ATRA, acronym for A Tool to Raise our Anger, is an album on the borders of electronic music, post-metal and contemporary music. The original idea behind the project was to develop a musical environment that would re-consider and recognize the wounds of the wild world as equivalent to those of teenage wounds. And inherently, portray teenage anger as primitive anger, where one could recognize his own inner cries in the strident screams of the wilderness. The darkness of ATRA (in Latin "dark, black") seeks to evoke the darkness that one carries within oneself as well as the darkness of the nocturnal world : darkness that hurts as much as it protects and conceals.
The challenge of ATRA was to grasp different essential sounds and to make them coexist without distinction. Bringing together a variety of sounds (natural, instrumental, programmatic) within the same album gives them an opportunity to reach one another. In other words, acknowledging these sounds for what they are, for what they evoke, by preserving their differences but also playing with confusions, blurring the lines to the point that it becomes difficult at times to differentiate the nature of each sound. It is a play on our senses : hearing without sight, sounds without words, deprived from language; a partial redistribution of the world and its fears by redistributing sensitivity. ATRA develops a musical environment where we refer to sounds like we refer to mankind, and of mankind we speak of beasts, where each and one of us seems to carry the same anger, at the same time.
To Raise our Anger : to educate, to guide and to heal - to stop giving in to an anger that damages our body and tears our mind apart. To transform this youthful anger into a tool to create, to create sounds, and ones own world. Sounds that drag and tear, then stitch back together, fit together, gain strength, and collectively, find a form of dignity. It is this anger that ATRA reconstructs through a 43 minute sound journey. It is a visceral and painful intimacy. A coming of age journey through anger as a fundamental passage to adulthood. With ATRA, Jorrdan also states his own experience of maturity: that of his emerging music that is becoming more and more consistent, more precise, and that borrows new considerations (instrumental, technical, conceptual) by which he revisits his own legacy, by confronting it. Here, he has completed the first volume of a long and demanding writing process.

ATRA is accompanied by a picture book developed by Lucas Dubosque and thought of as the physical version of the project: a herbarium composed of objects collected since teenage years or harvested in the region, which were scanned, organized and then extended by original photos.

La raison de ce projet fut dʼélaborer un environnement musical qui envisagerait les blessures du monde sauvage comme des blessures adolescentes, et inversement de figurer la colère adolescente comme une colère animale, par laquelle reconnaitre ses propres cris intérieurs dans ceux stridents du monde sauvage. La noirceur dʼATRA (en latin « sombre,
noir ») cherche à évoquer autant la noirceur que lʼon porte en soi que celle, littérale, du monde nocturne - le noir qui blesse autant que celui qui cache, qui dissimule.
Tout lʼenjeu dʼATRA fut donc dʼassimiler différentes natures de sons et de les faire cohabiter sans distinction épistémologique. Réunir ces variétés de sons (sauvages, instrumentaux, programmatifs) dans un même album, cʼest leur donner lʼoccasion de se rencontrer. Prendre ces sons pour ce quʼils sont, pour ce quʼils évoquent, préserver leurs différences mais jouer aussi des confusions, sʼamuser à brouiller les pistes à tel point quʼil devient à certains moments difficile de différencier la nature de chacun. Jouer de lʼouie sans la vue, du son sans les mots, sans le langage, redistribuer un peu du monde et de ses peurs en redistribuant la sensibilité. ATRA développe un environnement musical où lʼon parle de sons comme on parlerait dʼhommes, et dʼhommes comme de bêtes, et où tous semblent porteurs dʼune même colère, en même temps celle de chacun et celle de tous.
Elever notre colère: lʼéduquer, la guider et la soigner - ne plus céder à une colère qui nous abîme le corps et nous déchire lʼesprit. Transformer cette colère juvénile en un outil pour forger, forger du son et forger son monde. Des sons qui trainent et se déchirent, puis se recousent, sʼagencent collectivement, gagnent de la force et retrouvent, ensemble, une forme de dignité. Cʼest cette colère que reconstitue ATRA à travers 43 minutes dʼun itinéraire sonore dʼune intimité viscérale, douloureuse; le périple initiatique dʼune colère quʼon accompagne à son passage à lʼâge adulte.
Avec ATRA, Jorrdan acte lui aussi son propre passage à la maturité: celui dʼune musique naissante de plus en plus consistante, plus précise, emprunte de nouvelles considérations (instrumentales, techniques, conceptuelles) par laquelle il revisite son héritage en lʼaffrontant directement - et en accomplissant ici le premier volume dʼun long travail dʼécriture dʼune très grande exigence.

ATRA est accompagné dʼun livre d'images élaboré par Lucas Dubosque et pensé comme la version physique du projet: un herbier composé d'objets amassés depuis lʼadolescence ou récoltés dans la région, lesquels ont été scannés, organisés puis prolongés par des photos originales.
